Plexus Palsy Foundation The BPP Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization. All contributions are tax-exempt. |
BACKGROUNDThe Brachial Plexus Palsy Foundation began in 1995 after the birth of our son Andrew, who suffered a severe brachial plexus injury to his right arm. Immediately, we wanted to help the cause to find ways to help with education and treatment of this injury. In its short tenure, the Foundation has been able to contribute thousands of dollars to both Texas Children's hospital in Houston, TX and Shriner's Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. to aide in their efforts in treatment of brachial plexus injuries. With the help of many in our community- family, friends and businesses, we have and will continue to have fundraisers to secure funds for these causes, including an annual golf outing. In addition to financial contributions, the Foundation has sponsored and organized a brachial plexus family picnic near Philadelphia for several years. The picnic has helped hundreds of families to network and build acquaintances and friendships with many families across the Mid-Atlantic States. We have also provided a forum for parents with children who have suffered brachial plexus injuries to interact with doctors and therapists treating the condition. The Foundation has helped answer many questions of parents regarding bpp injuries and has provided valuable information for physicians and therapists via our web site. CONTRIBUTIONSOne of the major goals of the Brachial Plexus Palsy Foundation is to contribute to hospitals both regionally and nationally that are currently treating brachial plexus injuries and conducting on going research for better methods of treatment. To date the Foundation has contributed to the Shriner's Hospital of Philadelphia and Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, TX, one of the most renowned hospitals currently treating brachial plexus injuries. The Foundation has also contributed funds to support other brachial plexus groups across the country in their efforts including the United Brachial Plexus Network. It is the goal of the Foundation to continue to fund these hospitals and organizations that are committed to the care of brachial plexus injuries sustained in children across the world.
