Mysteries

PLEASE NOTE: gotta explain this BEFORE you listen. Normally, this song
would never have made it onto this site because of the very poor recording
quality. There are MANY more Peter Cross songs that are not on this site
because the recordings were not good enough. This one is up here for Tim
McDonald. It was his band playing all the tracks. Ginny, the female drummer,
was the mutual friend who brought Peter and Tim together. Ginny died of
cancer. There were two guitar players in Tim's band. The other guitar
player, Chris, is also dead. The Charles Biscuit Band is dead. But Timmy
is alive, and this one is for him, Ginny, Chris, and the rest.

Mysteries are what you give me when you're playing with me though you're feeling right
Sadness is a world I live in every time I give in or should choose to fight
I can give you something no one else can give you
Why oh why'd you treat me like a shoe?
Your mysteries old and new

Mysteries are what you make it, every time you ache it kills my empty heart
Anger is your thunder, better off a hundred thousand miles should keep us apart
I can give you something no one else can give you
Why oh why'd you treat me like a shoe?
Your mysteries old and new
You treat me like you do
I've given it all to you

Mysteries, Mysteries, Mysteries
Why oh why'd you treat me like you do?
Your mysteries old and new
You treat me like a fool, I know just what you're doing
Treat me like a schoolboy, I wish you'd stop that screwing around with me
You won't let me be
You're a mystery

Commentary:

Not much to be said here, because the important stuff got said at the top of this page. All you need to know is that the really good guitar playing on Mysteries is Timmy (i.e. the instrumental break in the middle), and all the average guitar playing is Chris. Sorry Chris. Timmy's talent is too obvious. And Timmy is still living. That means there is still a possibility that he will record with Peter again. Someday.
